Stop tripping over yourself and be the messenger!

I come before all of you in weakness and fear to be a demonstration of the Spirit’s power.

To understand my story and the power the Lord has in this world and over all creation
then check this out. Psalm 139 says:

“O Lord you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise.
You perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you
are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O
Lord.

You hem me in – behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me. Such knowledge
is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.
Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go to the
heavens you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.

If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even
the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as
light to you.

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise
you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that
full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When
I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All
the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

How precious to me are your thoughts o, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to
count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake I am still with you.
If only you would slay the wicked, O God! Away from me you bloodthirsty men! They
speak of you with evil intent; your adversaries misuse your name. Do I not hate those
who hate you, o Lord, and abhor those who rise up against you? I have nothing but hatred for them; I count them my enemies.

Search me, o God and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if
there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

Boom, I mean Wow! What a mind-blowing concept to think that the creator of the
universe knows you intimately – what makes you tick, your strengths, your weaknesses,
your potential!

In today’s world there are plenty of situations and circumstances that we live through and though it’s easier to say in those dark times “where is God?” and give up. It’s easier to carry on following the crowd than to go out on your own and search for Jesus and his
kingdom. A love line from C.S Lewis’s book “THE LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE “ or better know as “THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA” while visiting
with Mr. and Mrs. Beaver, a young girl named Lucy inquires about a lion known as
Aslan, who symbolizes Christ. “’Course he isn’t safe. But he is good,” replies Mrs.
Beaver. That’s Christ – good but not always safe.

In one sense, going along with the crowd is the safe thing to do. It requires no energy, no backbone, no guts. Taking up your cross to follow Jesus isn’t safe; truly living for Him
means putting your life on the line.

The next time you feel like GOD can’t use you, just remember:
  • Noah was a drunk.
  • Abraham was too old,
  • Isaac was a daydreamer,
  • Jacob was a liar,
  • Leah was ugly,
  • Joseph was abused,
  • Moses had a stuttering problem,
  • Gideon was afraid,
  • Samson had long hair and was a womanizer,
  • Rahab was a prostitute,
  • Jeremiah and Timothy were too young,
  • David had an affair and was a murderer,
  • Elijah was suicidal,
  • Isaiah preached naked,
  • Jonah ran from God,
  • Naomi was a widow,
  • Job went bankrupt,
  • John the Baptist ate bugs,
  • Peter denied Christ,
  • The disciples fell asleep while praying,
  • Martha worried about everything,
  • the Samaritan woman was divorced, more than once,
  • Zaccheus was to small,
  • Paul was too religious,
  • Timothy had an ulcer….
  • AND Lazarus was dead.

No more excuses now. God can use you to your full potential. Besides you are not the
message, you are just the messenger.

The amazing thing is that we need to see the world through God’s eyes. It’s amazing how everything can be his messenger. What can you do today or use today to be his messenger?
